The Librarian
The image at the right is not a portrait of the Conlanging Librarian. It is The Librarian painted by Giuseppe Arcimboldo around 1566. Although not having a direct connection to conlanging, Arcimboldo's work does demonstrate a creative way of looking at reality (or, alternatively, at creating a new reality). This has a parallel with the creation of languages. Arcimboldo was an inspiration to artists like Salvador Dali and the Surrealists.
Arcimboldo's original oil on canvas is 38 x 28 inches (97 x 71 cm) and is housed in Skokloster Castle, Sweden.
